4,500 medical and paramedical staff examine, diagnose and provide world class care for 1 million patient visits each year. Our compassionate care is distinguished by its innovative approach and the attention given to complex medical problems.
For over fifty years we have been sharing our medical expertise with healthcare workers worldwide and individuals from 90 countries have participated in courses related to the medical needs of their homelands.
Bringing scientific knowledge from the lab bench to the bedside in an environment dedicated to serious illness and saving lives. At Hadassah Medical Organisation, research is integral to treatment.
More than half the hospital research conducted in Israel is carried out at Hadassah as Hadassah has the largest concentration of medical investigators and researchers in Israel. Rechers is an integral part of Healing at Hadassah. Each discipline incorporates research units and there are many interdisciplinary research centres.
In both hospitals and within a number of hospital departments, Hadassah has created Centres of Excellence: brain trusts of scientists and physicians, integrating clinical care with the latest laboratory lessons.
The Centre for Individualised Medicine, our newest and most exciting Centre consists of:
The Hadassah Cancer Centre, the Division of Internal Medicine, the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, the Department of Ophthalmology, the Department of Paediatrics, Department of Adult Psychiatry, and the Department of Surgery.
Hospitals, medical practices and research facilities throughout the world benefit from the training at Hadassah’s five academic medical institutions. The diversity of our students’ backgrounds has created an environment that is both scientifically challenging and culturally stimulating.
In partnership with the Hebrew University the Hadassah Medical Organisation operates: The University Medical School, The School of Pharmacy, The School of Dental Medicine, The Henrietta Szold School of Nursing, The School of Occupational Therapy, and The Braun School of Public Health and Community Medicine.
Hadassah’s International Master of Public Health programme, taught in English, provides an intensive year long full time course for health professionals from Africa, Arab Countries, The Americas, The Far East, Europe and Australia. Thanks in part to backing from the World Health Organisation, to date more than 500 students from 90 countries have participated. After graduating, they have gone home to work and make a difference in public health in their countries of origin.
The doctors and nurses conduct clinical research programmes in addition to tending to their patients. We have become recognised as a world leader in researching and treating a wide range of complicated medical issues. In a country that is so scientifically and technologically advanced, we are responsible for 50% of all clinical research. We publish twice as many papers as all the other Israeli hospitals taken together.
In both hospitals Hadassah has created Centres of Excellence: brain trusts of scientists and physicians, integrating clinical care with the latest laboratory lessons. Programmes we are currently focusing on include fighting Cancers, Juvenile Diabetes, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s Disease and Geriatrics.
Hadassah’s Heart Institute is working on new ways to prevent heart attacks and at how to keep survivors free of future complications. Specialists are looking at coronary artery disease in women, a previously neglected area of research. We have been recognised for our revolutionary cancer work in creating an individualised vaccine to fight the recurrence of melanoma.
"Crossing the chasm from excellent science to real business"
Once Hadassah scientists come up with the answers, Hadasit Ltd, the medical centre’s research and marketing subsidiary, concentrates on making the results more widely accessible.
